Colored photograph of bright green landscape with mountains and blue skies. Upper right corner has a girl on a swing.
Historical Context:
"With a girl from my hostel, I took a rickety bus ride up to the top of a low mountain in Ecuador where there's a swing at the edge of a cliff where you can literally fly through the clouds-- it's called the swing at the end of the world. I found out that this girl was also a gay woman traveling through South America like me, and we gushed about what it meant to be queer abroad and swapped pictures of our girlfriends as we talked in a blend of Spanish, English, and French. At the end of the world, I found a sense of community."- Ashlyn Rowell
