Historical Context:
"The house called “Rocky Edge” was built in 1925 by Chapman Root, owner of the company that invented the iconic glass coke bottle. Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, the villa was listed as one of the state's top ten most endangered sites in 2018. I visited in October of 2019, and a year later, in 2020, the estate is finally being renovated. As I walked through the abandoned hallways and under the shattered glass ceilings of the conservatory, I wondered at the stories those rotting walls tell. There’s something so fascinating about abandoned buildings, especially ones as beautiful as Rocky Edge. What will we forget and who will tell the stories?" - Chavala Ymker
