Abstract landscape painting on board. Top half of the painting is dark, almost black while the lower half is brighter with yellows and reds with brown overtones. The center between the two halves has areas of white.
Nuel Friend is a local artist working and living in Grand Rapids. On this work he states: “In ‘Out of the Blue, Into the Black,’ I wanted to emphasize the void. Specifically, a transition into the void. I wanted the viewer to be drenched in emptiness. The title is a line from Neil Young’s 1979 song, ‘Hey Hey, My My’ – Nuel Friend
