Historical Context:
Patricia Clark is currently an Associate Professor of English at Grand Valley State University. Her poetry has been featured in magazines such as The Atlantic Monthly and Seattle Review. Stanley Krohmer is a member of the Liberal Arts faculty at Grand Valley State University who also works as a freelance photographer. Together, husband and wife created a set of poems with complementing photographs. Of this work they write:"The same trees appear differently during the fall and winter seasons. In this sylvan suite of poems and silver prints, the photographer and the poet will each capture images of trees that assume metaphoric significance relating to human life and the resilience of the human spirit at times of crisis."
