Historical Context:
“Photographs are one way of recording memories. When presented with a photograph from one's past, the mind can recall certain details and emotions attached to the image. When a photograph is destroyed, the specific memory and emotions attached to that memory would be lost forever. The ‘At First Glimpse series’ features re-creations of family photographs that survived the destructive acts that took place. Instead of focusing on the destruction of photographs, the series is reclaiming their original narrative and intended purpose, to capture and preserve precious memories.” - Annaka Pacino
