Historical Context:
"Life span is not determined by fate alone. Care and cultivation can prolong the years of good fortune,"are lines from a poem by Cao Cao, who rose to power towards the final years of the Eastern Han dynasty and became the head of government in China. He laid the foundation for what was to become the state of Cao Wei. Poetry, among other things, became one of his legacies.
