Historical Context:
This monument to the great explorer Vitus Bering, was Daniel Kaminker's senior thesis in the sculpture department of the Academy of Art and Design, in St. Petersburg, 2001-2002. Daniel Kaminker is the son of popular Russian artist Dmitry Kaminker. They've worked together on many projects, though Daniel is also recognized for his own award-winning work.
