Description:
Paper and Heelball; white paper and black wax. Pointed helmet with chain-mail around his head. Lion at his feet with the tail straight up between his legs. Highly decorated knife at his side- his sword is angled behind his body.
Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of John Cray (d. 1392). The original brass is located in the Church of St. Andrew in Oxfordshire, England. John Cray served as an esquire to King Richard II.
