Description:
Paper and Heelball; Black paper and gold wax. Husband and wife looking out with hands clasped. Both wearing civilian clothes- he has a robe and she has a high necked dress, belt and veil.
Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of Thomas Boulby (d. 1513) and his wife Agnes. The original brass is located in the church of St. Michael and All Angels in Oxfordshire. They are both dressed in civilian clothes, facing the viewer with hands clasped in prayer.
