Description:
Paper, Backing board and Heelball. Black wax on white paper mounted on a board for display. Man and woman face each other, hands clasped in prayer, above their heads are two shields. Wife has a large mantel.
Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of Sir John Daunce (d. 1523) and his wife. The original brass is located in the church of St. Michael’s in Berkshire, England. The shields above their heads are the coat of arms from their families.
