Description:
Paper, Heelball, Mounting Board- White paper and gold wax. Symbol of lion and cross with stars are repeated throughout his armor. His helm is undercoated behind his head.
Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of Sir Ralph Verney (d. 1546). The original brass is located at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Hertfordshire, England. This brass is accompanied by a brass of his wife Elizabeth Bray, scholars are unsure if she is buried here with him since she moved and remarried after his death.
