Description:

Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of Elizabeth Sakevyle (d. 1464). Original brass is located at St. Andrew Church in Cambridgeshire, England. The full brass includes Elizabeth’s husband John Pernard (d. 1451), and his first wife Ellen Swynerton (d. 1440). It is believed that Elizabeth is the one who commissioned the brass of the three of them together. Elizabeth is wearing a fur trim gown and a butterfly style headdress.
