Paper and heelball; black paper with gold wax. Rubbing of the funerary brass of Margaret Cheyne. Her head rests on a pillow being held by two angels.
Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of Margaret Cheyne (d. 1419). The original brass is located at St. Peter Church in Kent, England. She is wearing a horned headdress and her head is rested on a cushion supported by two angels. The small lap-dog at her feet probably references a pet she had.
