Description:
Paper and heelball rubbing: Rubbing of brass grave marker from English church. Black on gold paper. Woman with long dress and winged hat. Praying hands.
Historical Context:
Wax rubbing of the funerary brass of Katherine Quatremayn (d. 1342). The original brass is located at St. Mary’s Church in Oxfordshire, England. The full funerary brass includes Katherine, her husband Thomas, their son Thomas and their daughter-law Joan. It is believed that Joan was the one who commissioned the brass after her husband's death.
