Historical Context:
Along with four other GVSU students, Jane Dandron’s artwork was included in the 2018 senior thesis show titled “Tactile Existence.” Her work speaks to domestic scenarios that we encounter everyday where touch is important, even if it is not explicitly noted. On the process of creating her prints Dandron states, “Inspired by past experiences, I recall faded memories and emotions through the grounded nature of printmaking. While working, my mind focuses, constantly preparing for the next step. The medium has the ability to teach you to learn from each mistake or use it to make something new. Sifting through mental images of the past I use the copper to place them in a new tactile reality. Each step in the process helps further the understanding of my own life and often influences growth.”
