Ship of Fools
A sculpture of six individuals made of fabric and stuffed, inside a wooden raft wearing bathing suits and pointy hats.
Born and raised near Hudsonville, Michigan, artist Esther Luttikhuizen's interest in art emerged while in high school. She attended Hope College, majoring in studio art. Soon after college she moved to New York City and began exhibiting and selling her art. In 1991, Luttikhuizen moved to Seattle, Washington and attended the MFA program at the University of Washington School of Art. She later founded the Esther Claypool Gallery, located in the historic Pioneer Square.
