Historical Context:
Beauty means a beautiful person or thing, but yet everyone seems to judge each others looks. For example, if someone is not a certain size, they view them different than someone who is a size 0 or 2. spreading the word to younger generations is helpful because they have the ability to change beauty standards. I choose this subject because I have never been a size 0 and even though I have never harmed myself to get to that size, I know a few people who have. This is something that needs to stop. In my photographs, I explored beauty standards symbolically with a roll of paper and a variety of models. The torn paper is an act of breaking through the beauty standards and showing that we can make a change. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, yet beauty standards damage this idea. People should feel comfortable to break through the standards instead of blending in.
