Historical Context:
"I developed a passion for solving the water crisis through fundraising for a water organization, Team World Vision, and through an Honors class I took called World Water Issues. I wanted to call attention to this issue by combining my knowledge from research with my graphic design skills to create this poster series. This series is critical of American's desire to achieve 10,000 steps a day, while children in third world countries are walking miles daily for their basic human needs. In our country, we take clean, accessible water for granted. In third world countries, water is the key to everything. Having clean, accessible water can take a village out of poverty and help children gain the education they need. This series specifically calls us to action through the use of storytelling. Through the fitness lens, the audience learns about the strain the water crisis puts on the bodies of children." - Kendra Smith
