Medium:Alkyd on Shaped Panel
Dating back to ancient times, the still life image has been popular across artistic movements, cultures and periods. While historically they were painted based on a random assortment of items, local Grand Rapids artist Jay Constantine takes the still life image out of the artist’s studio and into the world of science. Driven by the boundlessness of human curiosity, Constantine explores a number of scientific studies in his still life images, everything from glaciers to microorganisms. In his own words on his painting, "An imaginative scene with still life and landscape elements. The painting celebrates the study of the natural world."
