Lowell Mars Drawings From his 1895 book "Mars"

Percival Lowell included “canals” in this drawing of the Martian surface for his 1895 book Mars. The American astronomer, mathematician, and businessman’s misunderstanding of the Italian word canali (channels) influenced his theories. The existence of canals would have proved the existence of intelligent life on Mars. Lowell wrote two additional books to further validate this conjecture.
