Historical Context:
This 360-degree color-adjusted composite view from NASA’s Curiosity rover documents the Naukluft Plateau inside the Gale Crater. Mount Sharp, the ultimate goal of Curiosity’s trajectory, is on the right. Recent research indicates there was liquid water in Gale Crater in the Hesperian period, significantly later than other locations on Mars.
