Historical Context:
"This is a portrait of Jocelyn Dettloff. Jocelyn is paralyzed from the chest down after a T-5 spinal injury while sand sledding in Namibia, Africa. She is the Annual Fund Director at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids. A very active woman, Jocelyn still plays tennis, has skydived and driven a car on a racetrack since her injury. This painting is, in a way, an expression of my great wonder and admiration for Jocelyn." - Ed Wong-Ligda
