David Nash is a British sculptor and land artist who works in wood. For interior sculptures and installations he uses found materials, trees felled by age or shaped wood salvaged from demolition sites. Employing heavy machinery, such as chainsaws and blowtorches, Nash creates shapes and textures not normally found in nature – perfect cubes, pyramids and spheres. Deep cuts are made in the wood, emphasizing the natural beauty, while at the same time destroying it.
