Historical Context:
"One way I survived my experience was to exit the present reality. Grateful as I am for this tactic and how it spared me in some way, it no longer serves me. It takes me away to the past or future, away from the richness of the moment that is here right now. If I stay only in the present moment, chances are there is nothing at all threatening coming at me. If I hover in the past or try to predict the future, my fears are bound to be aroused and begin old voices talking. If I stay with what my present moment offers, there is always much to be grateful for - the natural beauty around me, the smile of another, a tasty meal, the warmth of the sun, the affection of a pet. Almost any small detail can show me how I am provided fore if only I care to see it. I can appreciate even the uncomfortable feelings I may be having in the present moment. For we all have pain. I am a human among humans, and to know and be present with my pain allows me to know others with theirs." - Deb ;"One way I survived my experience was to exit the present reality.
