Faculty Response:
Searching for a change from her upbringing in post-war Seoul, South Korea, Jin Soo Kim moved to the United States. Confronted with extreme culture shock Kim eventually settled in the rural community of Macomb, Illinois where she worked as a registered nurse while studying art. She eventually left the nursing profession to focus on her artwork, and increasingly became known for an almost obsessive preoccupation with wrapping and weaving materials on skeletal, structural forms.
