Historical Context:
The Warlpiri term 'Intjungaw' is the name given to a Witchetty grub ceremony performed near Central Mt. Wedge (Kurrinyarra) in Central Australia. This painting depicts specific corroboree sites as well as women collecting the Witchetty Grub for a meal. It is the Witchetty grubs existence and its vital importance to the survival of desert aboriginals that forms the basis of the 'Intjungaw' corroboree ceremonies.
