Historical Context:
Jason Rutter graduated from GVSU in the winter of 2007 with a degree in photography. While attending college he worked as a darkroom assistant for photographer David Plowden. The time he spent working with Plowden greatly influenced his photographic career by being a teacher of the process and a mentor of ideas. His personal work has taken on several themes and directions ranging from documentaries about Michigan farms, industrial sites at night, and images dealing with the natural landscape.
