Historical Context:
Elaine Dalcher is a local Michigan artist who received her Master of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo in 1988, and her B.F.A. from Grand Valley State University in 1974. She specializes in oil painting, often depicting scenes found in and near her home and studio. Her work has been described as "honest, fresh, intimate and familiar", and is represented in public, corporate and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.
