Historical Context:
"In this body of images I am working with the idea of self. Inspired by George Mead, I'm focusing on how self can either be the subject of consciousness or it can take itself as an object. We tend to be wither objectively or subjectively self-aware. Objective self-awareness is being consciously focused on the self while subjective self-awareness is being consciously focused on the environment around you. The viewer is able to see my figure being reflected and interacting with the environment surrounding me. Each image welcomes the viewer to see myself being objectively and subjectively self-aware all at once. You must get outside yourself, to evaluate yourself, to become an object of yourself." -Marissa Dillon
