Historical Context:
This is a reproduction of a print by artist Sean Hamilton. Hamilton graduated from the Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Visual Communication before starting a career in advertising. After ten years working for high profile clients, Hamilton decided to focus more on painting, creating images that combine the visual immediacy of advertising with a medium that is more durable and long lasting. On his works he's states, "The forms I paint seek to convey a range of things from child poverty, to political blindness, to the disconnect in male and female representation. Though these forms have compositional clarity, I'm not interested in painting as decoration or applying brushstrokes for the sake of brushstrokes. They're made with paint only because that is the only way I could see them being produced honestly..."
