Early in Mike McDonnell's career he was fascinated with landscape and the architecture of frame houses. As his talent evolved, he began creating carefully composed still lifes of common place objects: plungers, bottles, ribbons, crocks and even rolls of toilet paper. He enjoyed employing perspective in mysterious interior gallery spaces with abstract images placed on the walls of those rooms with checkerboard floors. He has well over a thousand paintings in
public and private collections throughout the United States.
