Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter whose work laid the foundation for a radically different world of art in the 20th century, bridging the gap between impressionism and Cubism. He is known for repetitive, exploratory but small brushstrokes with complex detail. His subject matter varies from portraits, still-lives and landscapes.
