A greyscale forest scene in which a hunter and dogs chase their prey.
Historical Context:
"Throughout my life, I have been immersed in the vast and wondrous wilderness of Northern Michigan. Walking through the woods and observing the details in each and every tree, I perceive the life around me, but am also reminded of the death accompanied by it. I grew up hunting, and in some cultures, sight dogs are used to run down large game for the hunter to approach at a close range and bring down the animal. This illustration represents such a hunting style, in particular the hunt of a white stag by a hunter and his Scottish Deerhounds. I've explained and illustrated the stages the hunter must endure in order to complete the hunt in a triumphant, yet humble way. My passion for the preservation and conservation of the natural world is what drove my pieces and will still drive my work in years to come." -Parker Nugent
