Historical Context:

This bird and flower painting is a reproduction of a Hwajodo painting from the late 19th century. These works present a large array of birds, like white herons, bluebirds, pheasants, and white magpies, as well as plants like magnolia, camellia, chrysanthemum, finger citron fruit, water lily, and Japanese apricot flower. Birds near both ends of the canvas, delicate description, and splendid yet refined colors create a harmonious look.
