Historical Context:
While he was a student in the Art Students League, Mike met with a small group of fellow students outside their classes to paint. One of the group was a proofreader for THE NEW YORK TIMES. He used some of the money earned to rent studio space for the group. Often, other members would pay a sitter. This subject happens to be a fellow students.
