A sepia composition showing an art exhibit of nude women.
Local Muskegon, Michigan artist Mike McDonnell may be better known for his larger than life, brightly colored still life images, but his roots were first formed during training in portraiture. The two styles collide in this representation of a fictional gallery and a creative use of perspective that seemingly leads the viewer into this fantastical gallery full of portraits. GVSU owns the largest public collection of works by Mike McDonnell, totaling over 800 pieces (gvsu.edu/artgallery).
