Historical Context:
The bicycle was all the rage in Paris during the 1890s, whether for sport or for leisure. This Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec poster for bicycle chains made by the Simpson company depicts a bicycle race scene. The original artwork is from the Robert L. Hoskins and Erwin A. Raible Collection of Fin de Siècle French Prints, a gift of Elaine Rutowski Shay.
