Long boat in the center with many figures. The actual boat is red and blue the sail is red and gold. Each figure in the boat carries a shield. The word "ADPEVENE" is in the upper left.
Historical Context:
The Bayeux Tapestry is 1.6 by 224.3 ft long and is actually an embroidered cloth. The embroidery depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England as well as the events of the invasion itself. The tapestry is annotated in Latin.
