Historical Context:
"The work I produce often teeters back and forth between playful and solemn. Similarly, my work travels between the literal and metaphorical realms. This helps create the layered imagery, but it also provides a platform to address the topics I'm exploring in a playful and interesting manner. I am constantly observing the relationships, interactions and communication in my life - trying to understand and decipher how all of the communication and visual culture influences me as a person. My work is ultimately meant to induce joy and satisfaction in one moment and then a challenge to think more critically about the work in the next." -Joshua Paul Kulchar
