Historical Context:
"My work examines the structure and function of older handmade tools, many of which are used in navigation or for scientific purposes. I admire their design, craft, and material. Modern manufacturing seems to have sacrificed the quality and visual beauty of the hand that once existed, in exchange for convenience and mass production. In response to this, my goal was to create objects that reflect on the craft of the old and, to some extent, time. The work is foremost visual, followed by function, with each piece and designed with a strong consideration of material. Each of these objects involves action over time in order to discover their entirety." -Peter Antor
