Historical Context:
Laurie Witucki is a Bioorganic Chemistry professor at GVSU. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton University, specializing in the organic synthesis of enzyme inhibitors. The title of this piece “Proto-oncongene” refers to a normal gene which, when altered by mutation, becomes an oncogene that can contribute to canter.
