Historical Context:
"We live in a culture driven by the quest for the new and improved. It has become acceptable to discard items that we deem no longer functional as we become desensitized to their existence. As I drove around the state of Michigan, I saw deterioration in the buildings that I passed. In this collection, each structure demonstrates their unique characteristics in their rural and urbanized setting... I am interested in recognizing the beauty and the value of what once was. My work is the final showcase of what used to be, a last bow before the buildings crumble into their surroundings." -Tina Jacobson
