Franz Zach (C.1818-1881) was a leading Bohemian glass engraver who specialised in engraving on heavy forms executed in thick cased glass, such as the stag in the present lot. He was also a pioneer of cameo techniques. Zach worked in Munich, mostly via the retailer Franz Steigerwald.
