“Darrell Gane-McCalla is an artist in the movement for radical social change. She was born in Boston in 1978 to a white South African mother and black Jamaican father. She was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and also spent time with family in Jamaica, England, and Swaziland during her childhood. Her main work has been as a sculptor, art teacher, and muralist. She hopes to take art off its pedestal and use creativity to celebrate life, transgress boundaries, and resist hierarchy and oppression.” From Celebrate People’s History
