Artist Biography:
From Fargo, D.T., Official photographer of the Northern Pacific Railroad. He started working for the Railroad in 1876, he was entrusted with taking promotional photographs of the train routes and areas of new construction. He kept the rights to the negatives and was able to make money by selling his own copies of his work. In 1884 he became the official photographer for Yellow Stone National Park, he return every year to the park and take photographs until his death. When he died the park named one of the mountain peaks in the park after him.
