Don Jungerai was born 'out bush' in c. 1939, and is of the Loritja tribe. Don Received some schooling as a boy at the Yuendumu settlement but preferred the life of a stockman, and worked cattle on many of the stations in the western desert area before settling at Papunya in the late 1970's. There he began painting under the guidance of his elder stepbrother Paddy Carroll Jungerai.
Don is married to Entalura Nungala, a senior woman of the Papunya Community who is also a well renowned artist. They has a son, daughter, and four grandchildren.
In 1986 Don won the Alice Springs Art Prize, and his work is represented at the Victorian Art Center, Wollongong City Art Gallery, and the Holmes a Court Collection.
