Fitz Hugh Lane, also known as Fitz Henry Lane, was an American painter and printmaker of a style that would later be called Luminism, for its use of pervasive light. In the early 1840's, Lane declared himself a marine painter and his harbor scenes and ship portraits were a sole focus of his art career.
