Alberto Magnelli was an Italian painter who has been accredited to have been a prominent figure in the "Concrete Art" movement. "Concrete Art and Design", also known as "Concretism", is an abstractionist movement related to Futurism, and was formed in the 1930s. It was made popular by artists such as De Stijl and Kandinsky. The idea behind this movement is that the images must be "free of any symbolical association with reality", and argues that line and color are "concrete" without these symbolic associations.
