Kathleen Houston-Stokes

Artist Biography:
Kathleen Houston-Stokes is an American sculpture artist who studied at the Columbus College of Art & Design, Ohio. On her work she writes: "Sacred symbols of Life are my subject matter. Abstracted, organic bone and leaf shapes in stone resonate natural evolutionary and metamorphic change. My sculptures communicate a strong, grounded, intimate and spiritual Life force embedded with ancient wisdom that touches our primitive and guttural instincts of survival and senses of beauty. Using a vocabulary of universally understood organic rhythms [my] work is a visceral and intuitive experience...This vocabulary of organic rhythms is capable of touching our deepest senses of primitive and ancient wisdom, which is carried with us through eternity." -Kathleen Houston-Stokes
