Carolyn Forché was born in Detroit, Michigan. She studied at Michigan State University and received her MFA from Bowling Green State University. Throughout her career, she has recieved many accolades, including fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Currently, Forché is the Lannan visiting professor of poetry and professor of English at Georgetown University.
